Paul's Model Art Minichamps 1:43rd Can Am Series 1971 McLaren M8F - Denny Hulme:

1
2
3
4
5
6

and with the M8D 1970 Series - Peter Gethin car:

7

It shows the subtle differences in car development in the next year. The side aero-scoop is prevalent, the front fenderwell largely modified and the windscreen taper blends into body material.

I love these McLaren Tony. Some of the changes that you see from 1970 to 71 were due to the death of Bruce McLaren who died in 1970 when bodywork came adrift while testing. The 2 seater compartment looks quite different for 1971.

I was luck enough to get to watch CanAm races for seven years, likely the most exciting racing that I have ever seen.

Thank you for this.

I appreciate the insight David!

I know Minichamps makes a M8A & B, there's a high dollar M8E in 1:43rd out there but I have yet to see an M8C, much less the FP. And, good grief; do I need them all? HA!

I have yet to take pictures of all my MC McLaren Can-Am cars, but I think I have them all - two 1968 M8As, two 1969 M8Bs, three 1970 M8Ds (includes the #48 Gurney car), and two 1971 M8Fs. As usual, I'm behind on photos. Your #5 is the Mosport winner, Chassis M8F-2.

Oh man Harv, I'm so jealous. If you know, the M8F seems to be longer than the D version; true??

That's a nice one Tony. GMP also made some very nice McLaren Can-Am cars, I haven't counted how many I have recently but I think it's 4 or 5 of them. Once I get the pictures taken I'll be posting them.
