Ever since Harv Goranson posted this, I've lusted after this gorgeous model. Finally found one on auction, and I resolved to win that auction. It arrived today from the UK. I am beyond thrilled to have it in my collection!
I just ordered a special display case for it, which I think will look great:
Very happy today! One minor issue...if you look closely at the paint on the hood, roof, and trunk lid, you can see marks from the plastic bag it was wrapped in...any suggestions how to polish that out? Thanks!

Great addition Moe. A very nice rare model.
I’ve used NuFinish lightly applied and wipes fairly quickly with a soft cloth in similar instances. Sometimes happens when the paint isn’t fully cured before wrapping. Others may have better ideas. Good luck.
Congrats on getting a model you've lusted for !!!!
So glad to hear that !
I've still got 2 that I'm searching for.

Whoa, that's a nice one ..... and it's a Buick ! David's advice sounds good. Working slowly and carefully, I think you will get good results.

David; What exactly is NuFinish and where can it be purchased? Do you just rub it lightly with a soft cloth?
Jack - I have had it with good results for 3 years. It is on Amazon - "the once a year car polish."

Congratulations for your find but NEVER use NuFinish Car Polish for any consideration on a model. You will make it worse. This is an abrasive compound that is something from the past when SIMONIZ was the only option.
Instead, buy NOVUS 1 CLEAN AND SHINE POLISH. This is formulated for acrylic display cases and far better appropriate for the delicate paint jobs of our models.
NOVUS has also a grade 2 and 3 polish but you don't need to go for this application
Hi Jack,
NuFinish comes in an orange plastic bottle similar to Turtle Wax and is used very much the same way for polishing full sized cars. Walmart And auto supply stores carry it. I'm in Canada but I have bought it in the USA, cheaper there too. It is not technically a wax but a polymer, I think. I have found it the most effective restorer for most models in repairing scuffs etc.
I use it sparingly and don't let it sit too long on the model before lightly buffing by hand with a soft cloth and repeat if needed.
I've used NuFinish before. It can work, but you have to be very careful. Nickie's suggestion of Novus 1 is a good one. I'd highly recommend it. Motorcycle riders use it to clean the visors on their helmets.

Congratulations Barry on your find. Always great to find a Holy Grail
Thanks for the advice, guys. I ordered a bottle of the Novus 1 as it seems the milder of the 2 options. I'll report back on the results.
Regardless, the car displays beautifully as it is, the paint issue is only noticeable at certain angles under certain lighting.

I had that problem with a refinished Brooklin. Greg Gunn polished it for me while I was at Countryside a few years ago but I don't know what he used.
@100ford2003 Just 2!!!!!
Yep... I'm looking for a 1/18 Revell Scirocco in red as it is exactly like my first VW.
And I'd like a Pantera by I forget who even though it's not a good model.
I still am in love with the '71-'72 Pantera with the chrome bumpers.
Give me an unlimited check and that's one of the first cars I would buy to have forget Lamborghini forget Ferrari forget any of those other ones I still have a soft spot in my heart for the Pantera wouldn't mind a Mangusta either to go along with it LOL !
