On the '58, what are the dark things on top of the front fenders?
I looked at a lot of 1:1s online and don't see any vents or whatever in that location.

Harv, even the old Brooklin 27 had those vents atop the fenders. As for 1:1 cars, I think they were only on the Eldorado Broughams.

Rick, the 58 Fleetwood 60 Special also had these vents, not just the ElDorado Brougham.

Thanks, Bob. I never traveled in Eldorado Brougham or Fleetwood 60 Special circles, so I am pretty light in the very-expensive-Cadillac knowledge department! Thanks for the correction! I did know that they didn't appear on the run-of-the-mill Cadillacs that we rarely saw where I grew up on Army posts.

I found these vents for sale (pic) on a replacement market on the web. With id removed, here is the info:
1957 & 1958 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham Front Fender Vent Grille $1,250.00
Product Description
New Old Stock Front Fender Ventilator Grille. Still new in its original "Cadillac" Box, Part #3511107 in group #10.0040
Fits 1957 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham series 70 and 1958 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham series 70.
This part fits on the top of the left front fender inner or outer side and also fits on the right hand front fender on the outer side.

Oops. Got my pictures confused. This one has an opening for the radio aerial; it's several hundred dollars more than the one described above. Sorry.

Rick, Believe me I didn't see these on a regular basis either. I had to go to the archives to verify the information. You are correct, the vents did not appear on the regular Caddies.
