This two-seater Cadillac concept car debuted in the 1954 GM Motorama Exposition. The name wa a shortened version of the El Camino Real or King's Highway which was a 600 mile highway that ran through Spanish California. It was fully roadworthy with Cadillac's 331 cid V8 and was the sister concept to the Espada convertible. The brushed stainless steel roof, the sharply tailored tail fins and quad headlamps would all find their way into different production models and the marque, of course, went to Chevrolet. The fate of this car is "missing; presumed lost".
This is a relatively ancient "Great American Dream Machine" model that kinda showing its age, but it still looks pretty cool.
Don't have the model but like it.
Yup, nice model.
@joop Would you mind sharing what all is included in those 28? That’s way more than I realized! Any photos would be welcome, too.
@joop Carumba !!!!
........a fine collection Joop !!
Many thanks, Rich and Joop. I have a few of these. My favorite is the unique Packard, but I enjoy just about all of them. Well. . . maybe not those where the GM dreamers got confused with jet airplanes.
So many of these have been released in resin with finer detail than the old GADMs. Time will tell if the few remaining ones will be modelled.
And these GADM's are just a small section of the American concepts I have.
I have many, many more.....in all scales.
I think I am close to 150 different models I think...
Could it be I have the biggest collection in the world of American concepts ?
