It is a beauty John, and rare. However I prefer the green. This was probably the last Brooklin model purchased as I shortly ran out of display space.

John Roberts weighed in on facebook, "John Roberts

Perhaps I should provide the background for this model! About 15 years ago I formulated a Brains Trust to give expert advice on American car subjects. This was to help Nigel on subject matter, variants, colours, etc. The group were involved for many years and the combined knowledge was invaluable. I acted as the link between the group and Nigel, collating information and opinion. I felt it would be nice to reward the group for their years of support by making a special model. The '54 Mercury wagon seemed an ideal choice. I suggested the grey as it would have been an unlikely colour for a regular issue. Nigel felt it would be preferable not to publicise this special and everyone accepted his decision. Now, a good few years down the line I see no reason not to add this little chapter to Brooklin's history and I'm sure Nigel would feel the same. It's probably one of the rarest, if not the rarest BRK issue."

  • Now, a few years down the road, John, I’m glad you have told the story of this ‘54 Mercury in Wellington Gray. Here is mine pictured with the standard red car.  I agree with Steve in his post above that the green one is a beauty and I’m on the lookout for one to complete the set. I’ve always loved those mid ‘50’s FoMoCo woody wagons.

I like the look of the gray version. That would have definitely been on my purchase list had I been aware of it’s existence, so for now, I will keep an eye out.
