Paying too muchAny thoughts on how much is too much for a model? I have been collecting for a good many years and would never pay more than $300 for a long time. Now, I find myself paying up to double this amount. I use to enjoy receiving a model in the post, but recently I received a motor city that I payed just over $600 for and for the first time felt I had paid too much. Seems to me we are getting a little carried away in our hobby.These days times are tough and yet our hobby keeps getting more and more expensive.Take the recent release of the new motor city dodge convertible at $435. I already have the old hardtop and I do not think I will buy the new one at this price. I do not mean to be critical of the company releasing the model as they are entitled to price their releases at what they like but I have decided to stay away from this one.Does any one else feel our hobby at the top end is just getting a bit too pricey. I feel qualified to talk about this as a collector with a reasonably large collection of high end models.

But then it may not need to sell well - just to sell enough to cover costs and make a profit!

It's gone...

I bought it in the heyday of the 1/24 FMs. It was a 1961 (?) Continental and I sold it very shortly after I bought it, fortunately , for the same price. I got emotionally caught up in a bidding war and went WAY beyond reason. One of the final bidders contacted me and offered to buy it right away.
