Here is a White open top bus from 1936, which was used in American national parks undoubtedly for the great views with the top pulled back. White was a well-known truck manufacturer and these attractive buses were used for many years. P.S. This model was made by the Open Top Bus Company and is listed sometimes as 1/48 scale. It was done in several colors and liveries.
Last May we were in Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming. There was a restored White bus at one of the hotels. I do not know year of bus, but it looks similar to the above model. Here are the photos.

Those are fine current shots of this actual White open top bus at Yellowstone ! My future brother in law (or will be in a couple of weeks) is on staff out at Yellowstone and I will ask him about these great-looking buses. It is excellent that they are still on duty and a testament to the quality and durability of such well-built and designed vehicles as White and Diamond-T.

Years ago, I passed on this bus because, oddly, it was in 1/48 scale. Still though, it's a terrific model! As I recall, there were other liveries. Nice to see 1:1 pics. 😀
Another livery
I have read that because these classic buses were so popular and in service so long in parks that a number of them went through major mechanical upgrades with new drive trains, etc. Apparently the original 4 speed crash box gearboxes were near impossible for current drivers to deal with and newer engines were needed to comply with emission standards.

@john-quilter Yep! I remember that paint scheme... and yes, all modern drivelines on these buses makes everyone happy. 😀
@chris Chris I have passed up the opportunity to buy this model on several occasions for the same reason as you.
@bob-jackman ....right, it was such an odd choice. 1/48 is primarily used for military models; I don't see any tie-in with these busses. It's like Gearbox being mostly in 1/34 scale. Why? Or Maisto releasing some decent models in 1/26 scale.... Why? I just don't get it (literally 😏 😏).
@chris I can see the tie in for 1/48 scale with O gauge trains but 1/32 scale, no way. As to 1/26, It's my opinion that scale is strictly to fit a box which means guys like us won't buy them.
