This is a '42 Ford pickup, as done in U.S. Forest Service livery by Gearbox.

I have a different color of the same pickup, similar logo, in brown.  The cardboard poster came with it.  I like the opening features and wish the hood would open wider;  the engine looks pretty good, too. Front wheels can be turned.  This is a good model.

Great shots as usual, Mike!!!   Who did the plane?  It's a great 'backdrop' for the truck!

Thanks, Karl ! The plane is a Lockheed Vega in U.S. Army Air Force service in the 1930's-40's.The model is 1/48 scale and so is a bit small for 1/43 cars but, oh well ! I did the plastic model years ago and the kit is tooling done by AMT/Ertl/Esci.

This type of plane was used by Wiley Post with the "Winnie Mae" round the world flight and by Amelia Earhart in an Atlantic ocean flight, as well as others.

I believe you can still find this kit re-issued if you are interested in building such a model. Here's a bunch of snaps :

@mikedetorrice More nice shots - thanks!  I thought it was a metal model - like Spec Cast or others did as a bank, but that might be a larger scale.  i do see the AMT and Esci 1/48 on the bay...   The scale is close enough that the cars and plane look great together!

Thanks again, Karl. I think that perhaps a diecast Lockheed Vega also has been done, too, possibly as a "bank" type model by Ertl or Spec-Cast. The scale could be around 1/48 (or maybe 1/32) I would guess.

The time line would be wrong, but posing a 1/43 Chevy Vega with the Lockheed Vega monoplane might be interesting !
