But wouldn't retaining the upper narrower pin stripe be accurate?
You're right, Jack. I have the original brochure for the Comet, and checked the exterior/interior color chart. A Jamaican Yellow Cyclone GT, either solid yellow or with a white or black vinyl top, had three interior options color-wise:
Solid black,
White bucket seats with black trim (dash, carpet, door panels), or
Parchment (tan) bucket seats also with black trim.
A yellow interior was not offered. All Sergio has to do on the one shown is change the seats to black, white, or tan and it will be correct.
While the upper pinstripes (dual pinstripes as described in the catalog) on the prototype are a little too thick, they were a standard feature on Cyclones so I think it would be best to leave them on. Which would you rather have--stripes that are a little too thick, but present on the real car, or a model without them (which would not be correct)? Personally, I'd prefer the model with the stripes than without them, even if they aren't absolutely perfect because it's difficult to replicate such thin ones.
More thoughts on the stripes.
My opinion is of zero value. This is not car I will buy with or without stripes. So please carry on as if I hadn't even brought it up.
A few 1:1 shots I found on the web. (pics)

Please note that these cars are about 50 years old. I doubt that authenticity is the top goal for many of the owners. An obvious exception is the wheels. But seeing these 1:1 pictures makes me admire Sergio's accomplishments even more. Well done, Sergio!
LOL!!
Thanks Rick; I wasn't aware of some of those details.
O'bleak.....Is that an Irish style humor that's not readily apparent?
All thoughts are worthy; I appreciate your input.
Maybe the pic is parchment and I have it wrong. Hard to say.
I thought that, too, but when I went and looked again at the pic, it pretty much matches the yellow on the exterior. I'd like to see the seats changed to white, because an all-black interior on a 1/43rd seems to turn into a cave and the details wash out, unless it's a top-down convertible of course. Or the parchment would also work but I think the white would look better.
I respectfully disagree, David. All opinions are of value, or at least of interest,
I think.
And I'm not a likely buyer either, but I enjoy researching these questions when I can. I just happened to have the Comet brochure so I thought I'd look it up and then comment. If I hadn't had the catalog, I wouldn't have said a thing.
I agree.....parchment spoils the contrast; but I like all black.
David...just curious...is it the stacked headlights that put you off this car?
I always liked this car; especially as a Cyclone; however I much prefer the finer styling of the '67. I will definitely buy this yellow one though.
The rear view demonstrates why I like the red one to be one color.
Just one person's opinion of course.
