Here is a Welly diecast model of the 1972 Firebird Trans Am from Pontiac. It looks really good and is about 1/40 in scale This one has opening doors and also a spring-driven motor. It was about $ 5.99 just a couple of years ago and is very nicely done overall. The '72 Pontiac model is also available in white with blue stripes.
I have seen some of these low price models at or near 1/43 scale. For the money they look good. Hopefully, they will bring young people into this collecting hobby.

Hopefully they will and I happily got this one at a local CVS pharmacy ..... and I am old !
Mike,
You're killin me tonight... IMO, that TA is one of the best looking muscle cars of that year along with the Z28.
In '74 I bought a '70 TA from a local police officer. It was like brand new with under 20K miles.
It was red with white hood scoop and fender air extractors. I sold it soon because the gas crunch had me draining my wallet.
I've regretted that decision ever since.

Hmmm, ouch ! Steve, I bet a number of people regretted panic selling back then based on fear or an imaginary/created "shortage", so you are not alone !
