Pics: A '52 Willys Station Wagon by John Roberts. Back by popular demand!

A few years ago when Brooklin released the '52 Willys wagon in Hampshire Green, the model was hailed by some as the dullest Brooklin ever! Indeed so, and by design. Boys and girls, these were utility vehicles. Their sex appeal was in the form of their utilitarian shape and plain colors, nothing fancy. It's the way God made them. Of course I got the green one but also one done beautifully by John Roberts in Shadow Gray. A few of these still exist on Martha's Vineyard, and this is one of them. It comes up every year. John got the color perfectly with correct red interior.

And there was this orange one from Tin Tin

I think Tin Tin was a comic strip and somewhere a line of toy like but fairly realistic 43rd models were made of the cars in the comic strip. Here's the Willys station wagon with Tin Tin figures.

I can't help but remember the two-tones from the '50's with nostalgia.

Nice, David. Indeed those two tones in the '50's were cool. Brings back memories.

That's actually a pretty nice replica, John. Thanks for the pic.

And if Jerry Rettig would post he could show his done in light blue with the "wood" picked out in blond and brown. Quite striking.

Needs a trailer hitch for the end of the boating season!

Until you made me look at mine, David, I had forgotten that the standard green one also has red seats. I think I'll paint them tan, find a luggage rack for the top, and affix a tow hitch so I can pull my Brooklin Speedboat behind it. That'll jazz it up a little bit, eh?
