PICS A tale of two Imps...
The white 1957 Imperial Crown is the new Neo model that I just received. The red is an older (pre-Buz) Conquest model of the same car, I actually bought the Conquest several years ago on the DZ auction.

Wow, that AE car looks so crisp. I will wait for another color choice but it is really nice.
Nice models by AE,but, what about the size ?
How disappointing Dick .................
I thought you were going to show images of some Hillmans. Ha ha ha!

The dimensions appear to be nearly identical to the Conquest.
Later today I'll check them against specifications.
Why AE? It's a Neo and besides, Neo makes the AE's.
Or maybe more pretty kids in a swimming pool? (from another grandfather)
I think you may have to qualify that Chris...had to think twice myself!!
[ PICS] Also available in pink from Model Car World. It's their "exclusive" version of this model.

To be honest I'd have liked to see a darker, more formal-looking colour scheme (single-tone or 2-tone) to contrast with the white/copper version, but there you are. Model producers seem to think a pink Yank Tank is the ultimate cool symbol of that era.
There may be some grumbles that the colour used on '57 Imperials was more of a dusky coral rather than baby pink

But see how different it looks on the 2 pictures of what I'm pretty sure is the same car? Shows how hard it is to say what's right or wrong.
Then I found this photo, which is as baby pink as you could possibly wish:

and MCW themselves show this contemporary shot, with the pink Imp at bottom centre:

So that's OK. Or is it?. Am I going to get blamed for starting another bare-knuckle fight to the death about Neo colours? Oh dear. A terrible thing to have on one's conscience.
Meanwhile I am still patiently waiting for my white/copper version to get here, and no doubt I will find the tyre pressures on the model are wrong, there are 16 slats instead of 17 on the air intake below the windscreen, and there's no driver's handbook in the glovebox, but I won't care. I'm just a sucker for this kind of second-rate Neo junk.

The 57 Imperial in white over pink was a dynamite looking car, especially as a 2 door HT.
Weren't those splashing about the pool his kids, not grandchildren?
My kids. I have 6 of them. But I am a grandpa to. All of my grandkids except............
one are older then my 3 kids at home. Its confusing but not complicated. Throw a divorce in there and its easy to figure out lol ! Its all good though, no worries ! RANDY
That's interesting as the Conquest may be a tad undersized. Oh well will likely get the Neo anyway
I also thought I was going to see Hillman Imps, not Imp's
I guess the association boils down to whether you drive on the left or right side of the road ๐
Owned an Imp once...well a Singer Chamois to be precise.
An absolutely brilliant small car that failed because of government interference. Rootes forced to make it in Scotland (government wanted to bring jobs there) where there was no tradition of car building, forced to bring it out before it was developed properly otherwise no government funding. As a result, it was initially unreliable and the British public didn't trust rear engines. A great shame. Sorry, end of rant!
