[PICS] It's that Chrysler Turbine at last.
I know several people on F43 were keen to get their hands on this new Matrix offering before it runs out, but unless I've been dozing off too often (which is quite likely) I haven't seen anyone posting pics of their long-awaited Turbine yet.
So here is mine. My little man in Hong Kong told me he was shipping it on 9 June and I would get it sometime before 21 July, but it turned up in the post today, 20 June, which wasn't bad going at all. He tends to get hold of them pretty soon after release but mine is already No 306 of 408 (408? What sort of a production total is that, for goodness sake?)
Anyway, there are no surprises, really. We expected Matrix to do a good job on it, and they have. In fact my biggest complaint - literally - is that the plastic case is much, MUCH bigger than it really needs to be, so if you want to keep it in its case for protection, it is a bit of a space-waster. But apart from that ...

Not much to find fault with there, I shouldn't think?
However - and if I may crave your indulgence - I couldn't resist taking my conversion of the daft New Ray convertible off the shelf one more time, to see how it stacks up. It is distinctly under-scale, of course, but in all honesty I don't think it's disgraced in such company. Colour is a pretty good match as well.

I hope you are all as happy with your Turbine when it arrives. (You've been waiting and begging for it for long enough, after all!)

Thanks Graeme for the pictures and your analysis. The model looks great and I'm anxious to receive mine.
I sure hope my Preorder was secured before 308! Beautiful model, and your NewRay conversion is a masterpiece.
Sometimes Matrix makes a second run of a subject [like that silver cloud wagon] -- but it better be in that one-and-only color.
They should have copied the JoHan promo.
Chrysler and JoHan worked closely on the original kit and promo when the car was new. The kit is generally accepted as one of the best ever and the body shape for the kit and promo are dead on. The new resin model has several shape issues. The windshield looks too angled back, the side windows and roof do not look right, and the front end looks like it is angled up. But they did get the color right.
I can see the bit about the grille which is maybe a little too vertical and should slope back very slightly from top to bottom (although looking at web images showing the car from different angles, it's hard to be sure how much it should slope inwards, it is pretty slight).
But looking at a range of images (I even have an original catalogue!)I can't really see much wrong at all with the front screen angle, side windows or roof shape, although once again these are things that can look subtly different from different angles.
I'm not such a big fan of Matrix that I won't hear a word said against them, but I think they have done a pretty convincing job overall. Let's see what others think when their models arrive.
(p.s. Just noticed the New Ray grille does slope slightly back! Good effort, lads, shame about the roof).

You know...
if you care to leave the model in the showcase and has extra room, why not put some little folks in there? Maybe a photographer and scantily clad young lass!
PIC - Before David H. responds...I have just the thing...

Gentlemen, your lack of seriousness doea you no credit at all.
Nice pair, though. (I mean the lady and the photographer, obviously).

HUBBA HUBBA!!!!
Like Neo, Matrix can be hit-or-miss, but i think this one's a homer!
Fortunately it isn't plagued with the dreaded Swollen A-Pillar Disease. This condition infects and disfigures models from many manufacturers which would otherwise be acceptable.
Eagerly awaiting this one.
Nice! I don't know what you did in your conversion to the New Ray but I ordered one from New Ray and sent it back. It was so bad I considered it a total waste of money. And I didn't pay that much for it to start with. I've had similar experiences with New Ray in the past and will never buy any of their product again.
Really looking forward to receiving mine.
Regarding the production number of 408 - I have 6 different Matrix models, all with a issue # of 408
Not sure what the significance is but it seems like a strange number.
My last two Matrix models purchased which were the 1930s
Alvis 4.3 litre models clearly stated on their bases
136/400 and 082/400 respectively, so perhaps they are making less.?
Well, my grasp of mathematics is tenuous at best ...
but if older issues were 400 models it would appear they are now making 8 MORE per issue, not less!
Can't you just imagine the managers of Matrix sitting round the table and, after long and serious discussion, and listening to reports by the finance manager and sales team, making the executive decision to raise their output by 8 models? The mind boggles.
Good news for some last-minute purchasers of the Chrysler Turbine, of course.
