My Jaguar, the real thing.

The Jaguar MK 9 brings back memories of days gone by. I have models of both of these cars, I will have to take photos of. One of my all time favorite cars is the Jaguar MK 9. Sold it back in the mid 1980s.Big mistake. Second car is the biggest financial mistake, same era. Another favorite. Worth over $300,000. now. I have a Motor City model of it.

Thanks for all this, Raymond. I once owned a little Mark II, but I've admired the Mark 9 for years. Sorry you don't still have it, but the Chrysler was also a beaut. Again, thank you for posting.

And speaking of Jaguars here's mine, been in the family for 54 years and still much cherished and driven regularly.

Jaguar Saloons

John, Nearly everyone admires Jaguar sports cars, especially XK 120 through 150, and all series of XK E models. I likewise appreciate these sports models, but I have been in love with Jaguar Saloons forever, especially the MK 9. Many mechanical improvements were made to the MK 9 over the MK 8, even though the bodies are the same. My car was purchased from the original owner, with only 18,000 miles on the odometer. It had never seen a rainy day outside of it's garage. One of the finer points of my car, is that it was one of the last 3 MK 9's to enter the country in 1961. The next shipment were MK 10's. When the original buyer went to see the Jaguars, at the warehouse in Long Island City,NY, the car they went to see was a MK 2. The car was for his wife, and was to be a Sunday afternoon pleasure ride car. While there, the Mrs. spotted the MK 9 sitting in a corner, all cosmolined, right off the boat. She wanted it made ready for delivery, and she would look at it again. Needless to say, they purchased it. Unfortunately, she contracted cancer, and the owner couldn't keep the car around. Too many memories. My wife said, when we went to look at it, my face lit up like a Christmas tree. It took a few seconds to make up my mind. We closed the deal with a toast of Polish whiskey. I have always regretted selling the car. Be proud of your lovely 3.8S Saloon, it appears to be a very neat car, and a Saloon to boot.
