The red Piranha Ferrari 250 GTO arrived yesterday. Looks nice next to yellow Ferrari 250 GTO that I posted pictures of a week ago or so. Happy to have them. I have 5 of these Piranha Ferrari kits in my kit stock pile. Get to those this summer I hope. Thank You.

Randy - Beautiful pair of Ferraris - I just don't understand why anyone would put a blue interior in a red, or even a yellow car! Was watching the Mecom auction last evening, and they sold a red Corvette, with a blue interior. Had never seen that color combination before, and even the wife commented on how wrong it looked. I guess that beauty really is "in the eye of the beholder".

Blue interior
I was fortunate to get a (thrill) ride in a 1/1 Ferrari 250 GTO about 25 years ago. The upholstery was that very shade of blue.
If you look at color photos of Ferrari sports racers from that period, that color upholstery seems to have been used in most of them in period.
The 1/1 GTO I rode in had bare metal everywhere except the seats and the dash. Why carry extra weight in a race car?
So I would imagine whoever chopped the top on the version Randy has must have felt the need to cover some of that bare metal with some more blue fabric or perhaps matching paint, since the interior is now so visible.
Oh yeah...I will never forget the howl of that V-12 engine as the owner floored the throttle. There is no sound deadening material in a racing car!
No wonder Herbert von Karajan loved his V-12 Ferraris.

A friend of mine who owns a 250 GTO and who has judged at Amelia Island and Pebble Beach says the blue seats came from a decision made in the factory. Seems the workers shirts were this color.

These are clearly not 250GTOs but rather 250GTE 2+2 models. Much cheaper and frequently have their chassis and powertrain stolen to make a phony GTO or SWB or TR. Then use the GTE body and chuck in a tube frame with built BBC. Or, if all else has been stolen, a short track basher!

The blue was a corduroy material, and appeared on many of the late 1950s-early 1960s Ferrari racers
