PICS News from MiniMarque, the Ian Pickering pattern for the 1956 Cadillac has arrived.
Any color suggestions for this four-door hardtop? How about a Taupe Poly with an Alpine White top?

I take it will be a h/top? Otherwise one can never have enough of black Cadillacs. ...
... The 1956 brochure, I have, supprisingly does not give wide enough choice, more or less the usual colours.
Here's a back page of another 56 brochure from Classic Cadillac Community web site:

But I am sure whatever colours it will be available in (usually a choice of 4) the guys at MiniMarque will do a superb job of it and i end up buying as usually more than one. 1956 is my favoirite of '54-'56 run, the fine mesh grille is a work of art.

Yes, it is a 4-door hardtop (Sedan deVille).

I did order my MiniMarque 1948 Cadillac in Black. By 1956 the American auto world had gone completely color crazy. My father had a white top on his Black 1956 Buick Roadmaster 2-door hardtop which for him was quite a radical departure.
Yeah, Yann Saunders has probably most of them, good point, Dick. I'd love something fruity.
Something two-toned and full of color would be welcome
Cadillac's 1956-7 color pallete was varied. But in 1958 it became quite subdued with pastel golds, bronze, pink, moss greens, and browns and fewer two-tones. Of late Minimarque has been issuing four colors each time. I like the taupe/white combo that Dick proposes with some more racy combinations like coral/black, light green/dark green, and amethyst/maroon.
Coral & Black might be toooo overwhelming for these big Caddy's. Red & black was the wildest that
I recall seeing these land barges looking good in. As Randall pointed out, pastels were big in the mid-fifties. In addition to the ones he mentioned, light blue over medium (not dark) blue looked good, as did white over that same medium blue--sort of like the white over blue color version of the CON/MAD 57 Lincoln. White or black over red, light yellow or pale green, or black also looked good. For some unknown reason, I can't copy pictures or even web addresses tonight, so I manually entered the following sites. You can find these and more by doing a search on "1956 Cadillac."

And something to wet Rick's appetite--How about the Caddy in white or biege over Sandlewood, or Sandlewood over biege/light tan, the same colors that were gorgeous on the 56 Pontiac Starchief 4dr HT? Go to: www/misterw.com/Cadillac/56Cad2Dr29html
I'll take it, Frank, I'll take it!
I don't have a '56 Caddy sales brochure but I do have a '55 one, and it illustrates that lovely coral color on a top-down convertible. It isn't too much of a stretch to visualize a dark gray or black roof on one! Coincidentally, the '55 catalog also shows a Series 62 Coupe in copper over tan/beige, and it's a great color scheme. I never did care for the green over yellow which Cadillac seemed to like...there's one shown and it doesn't do anything for me.
That sandalwood/beige sure does, though, as does the idea of dark gray over coral. Yum! Can't wait!
