Great colour repaint. Vast improvement by painting the wheel rims.Fills out the hub and gives the impression of a smaller spread between the hub and whitewall.

I agree, Ken, and I also think it's worth pointing out that this is not a standard Brooklin Impala, but one painted and detailed by John Roberts. The chrome highlighting around the windshield and rear window, the nice turquoise exterior, and the terrific white interior really make this one stand out.
Painting those wheel rims makes a big difference, too. I just didn't want anyone to have the mistaken impression that Brooklin issued the Impala like this! The standard Evening Orchid Impala is a nice model and I'm glad to have it, but it isn't quite as nice as this one.

The model was created by the very talented John Roberts.
I recently had the opportunity to acquire this model from Randall Olson.

I just polished the rims. Model was built from castings, not a repaint.
To be honest it's easier to do them like this - saves having to spray and lacquer the wheels! Another problem can affect painted wheels in certain circumstances. The material that the tyres are made from can cause painted rims to bleed unless a suitable lacquer is applied as a barrier. I've found this with a few manufacturers. In the same way tyres can eat into plastic display bases as has been commented on by others in the past. Don't know what the tyres are made from but you wouldn't want it on your breakfast cereal.

I stand corrected, JR! The rims were polished, which I knew, but I mistakenly wrote that they were painted. I also said that the car was repainted, when as you point out it was painted from the casting and was therefore not a "repaint."
I'll be more careful in the future!

I agree with Peter! John M acquired this car last month from the Zone Auction
Much as I liked this model which John Roberts made in this colour for me, it was out of my collecting range and languishing on a back shelf but I knew if I offered it to Diecast Zone members, it would find a happy new owner. Glad that John won it and took such fine photos that do it justice.
