Pics: The apple doesn't fall far from the grand tree.

Our 8 year old grandson is into cars like his grandfather. For Christmas, he wanted a 1:43rd scale car. He also wanted to make some 1:43rd scale vehicles for his grandfather. On Christmas here is what he gave me, two cars and an Eagle Bus Lines bus. The red car is a Subaru Forester and the blue car is an MJK, named after his car company based on his initials. And they are in a scale that is 1:43!

Forum 43 will be assured perpetuity with future generations like my grandson to carry on the tradition.

Good stuff David. Your grandson has those wire wheels down pat.

Buy him one of those Greenlight Ford Transit Connects which looks distinctly like his first drawing. I'm sure I got started in this hobby at about 8 years of age.

I believe I see three new favorites in a grandfather's collection. Wonderfully good stuff!

And as long as we're on paper models

Here's a circa 2010 GMC U Haul van promotional item which is actually very close to 43rd scale.

He also decorated his house for Christmas. Like his grandfather, he owns real estate in 1:43, a house I had started many years ago for his father and never finished until I finished it two years ago for his son, my grandson.

David, not only does your grandson have your collecting instinct but ….

he has your modelling talents. These three models are stunning and make for an interesting collection in their own right.

I especially like the fancy, detailed wheels.

He even caught the Forester's sunroof, with a sloping not boxy roofline. Observant fellow!

He is, Mark, and it cracks me up the things he notices.

And his memory! It's fun to be a grandfather and to watch those young minds at work.
