I am the lucky recipient of a Gift Certificate to use on a model car website. I plan to use it for the Brooklin 1951 Hudson Hornet sedan, and I'm trying to decide between Maroon and Gulf Green.
I'm leaning toward the maroon but the color looks very dark in some of the pictures I've seen, and not quite so dark in others. Similarly, the green one looks light, or not so light.
Can anyone post a picture of either or both that accurately depicts the color(s)? I'd also love to hear your opinion. Thanks in advance!

Did you click on the photos in hobbyDB ? The archive has factory photos and a few from our own JCarnutz!
@karl Thank you Karl, that was helpful!

They are both fabulous colors. The Burgundy is a dark color, but for this body style it is a perfect choice. Here's some updated photos both models.
The green version(s) are awesome as well, but I am really biased because I am a huge fan of the '51 to '53 Hudson and I'd be thrilled with any color.
I'm not meaning to muddy the waters for you, but I can't resist adding a photo of this very special model that was modified by John Roberts. It's in a Two-Tone Turquoise Blue/Green

@jcarnutz Thanks VERY much for this, John!
Here are the website pictures:
In both cases the color looks darker than in your pictures. Which is the more accurate color in your opinion? Based on these pictures, I'd pick the green one but based on YOUR pictures, I'd pick the maroon one!
Thanks so much again!

Barry; if you already have the green Hudson convertible by Brooklin then perhaps this beautiful maroon version would display better with it. Maroon is such a great and traditional color for this sedan.
My favorite of the two is the maroon. It is so better suited to the model. That color adds a level of class the green doesn’t have.
I don’t think it is too dark, I believe the factory photos show it to be darker than it is.

Good thought, Jack, I do have the green '52 convertible.

I ordered the maroon one, it suits the more formal sedan body style; for a coupe or convertible, the green might be more fitting. Thanks so much for your help with the decision!

Here's the Hudson paint color sample card for 1951. They offered both "Deep Maroon" and "Dark Maroon". Brooklin chose the latter. I think the lighter maroon would have been a better choice but either way it's a great looking car as a 1:1 as well as a 1:43.

@moe-parr Dark maroon looks richer and classier to my eye. Lol. Hudson sure offered a lot of great color choices though didn't they?
Yes! And I think Franklin Mint hit the nail on the head when they chose this color for both their 1/43 and 1/24:

@mg-harv I was always interested in that gray convertible. I'm pretty sure it's by Brooklin but the opening hood with engine inside is very unusual for them, no?
