Quiz: When did an Opel Kadette beat a Lancia Stratos?

In the late 1970s to early 1980s, Solido made kit versions of their race and rally cars to offer more choices to collectors (and tap into all that kit and transkit activity going on). I bought the kit version of #70, the Kadette GTE, and chose to make this version from the 1978 Rally of the Acropolis (model completed in 1982).

I forgot to dust a little before taking these, but maybe it adds a touch of authenticity for the very dusty course.

Now I admit to being a big fan of the Stratos, a car the size of the old Honda Civic powered by a Ferrari Dino engine. So when this Minichamps version became available with a 40% off BIN price, I jumped on it.

I haven't found any photos showing the red front wheels on the real car, which always appear to be gold though sometimes a Chromodora type was used. BTW, Solido made a kit version of this car too.

Results were a 5th overall for the No. 10 Opel, and 6th for the BiC Stratos.

Perhaps I should start looking for the 1st place Fiat 131.....

The hunt is the fun in the search. At least for me it is.

Re: the first two links, they show the Chromodora type wheels I referred to.

As for the third link Karl, yup, I know that car - in fact I've been quite close to it!

Real car pics from the Lancia collection at their Torino factory in 1981.
