Elected in 1908, President William Howard Taft believed in the future of the automobile, and obtained from Congress a $12,000 budget. Quickly arrived a White 7-passenger touring car and two Pierce Arrow limousines. The White, a steamer, was Taft's favorite, and his driver, George Robinson, was known for his "fast work at the wheel."
So with this night only a week from Christmas eve, I bid you, dear friends on the forum, my best wishes for a Merry Christmas.
