Renault's big car - the 40CV.
Introduced in 1911, the 40CV lasted until 1928 when the Reinstella replaced it. Initially offered with a 7.5-liter 6-cylinder, this grew to 9.1 liters in 1920. Like the smaller Renaults, it has the distinctive grille-less smooth hood with radiator heat exhausted from the body sides ahead of the passenger compartment.
For decades I've had two diecast Renault 40CVs in my collection (and I'm sure several of you had one of these too). Solido 149 is a landaulet-style limousine from 1926 with an opening hood. Rio 52 is a sportier-looking 1923 torpedo body style. Rio kinda blew it with the Renault emblem though, should be diamond-shaped, not circular.

Recently I added a third Renault 40CV, the Type NM from 1926 by Universal Hobbies. This is the car Renault used to set several closed-course records at Montlhery, including the lap record and the 24-hour record. The original car went missing in World War 2, but was recreated in 1965. There are at least three diecast versions out there, plus the usual long out of production kits. I like this version since it looks most like the old B+W photos of the real car.

Good models, Harvey. As I read your fine post, I remembered one of my old RAMI models and so I just made a little post myself. Fun!
