It is a gorgeous car and scale model of it. Cadillac certainly was producing some really impressive and attractive automobiles at that time. One of my diecast model Cadillacs in 1/18 is in a 1953 coupe in a color close to the Tunis Blue shade of this one.
Beautiful except for those wheelcovers - they're terrible, ugly, and stupid!
That is, Stamp replicated them wonderfully, but the 1:1's, IMO, are terrible, ugly and stupid! It's fair to say GM realized this and quickly responded; 1954 Cadillac wheelcovers resumed with a traditional elegant look Cadillac buyers were accustomed to.
This "robin egg" blue looks perfect on this Fleetwood! 👍 👍 👍
PS
Q: Are there 1950's wheelcovers uglier than those found on '53 Cadillacs? A: IMO, "No!" 🤢 🤢 🤢 🤮
Great pics, Richard. Thanks.
BTW, I'm not sure I have ever seen a critique of a model for being too accurate. Would the model have been improved if it hadn't replicated the wheel covers so accurately? Should Stamp have put different wheel covers on it?

I've always had a soft spot for vintage Caddies. Thank you for the pics, Richard.
"Should Stamp have put different wheel covers on it?"
What? No....as I noted, Stamp did a wondaful job (IMO) but GM - Cadillac wheelcover designers (IMO) did not. 1:1 1953 Cadillac wheelcovers (IMO) are ridiculous looking. 🤢 🤮 Being "too accurate" could NEVER be an issue. 😉 😉
I have the model in pale green and love it including the accurate wheel covers.
@chris Decades ago, I had a 1/43 white metal Bruce Arnold 1953 Cadillac Fleetwood 60S. It came with wire wheels. While it was a nice model this was not accurate and in some way a dissapointment.
I don't believe "The Reverse Sombrero" hubcap was a bad design to bring something new and different for 1953 after so many years of deep dish. The reason GM didn't followed with the concept is the offset was too pronounced and very easy to damage on curbsides.
What I particularly like about this rendering, the color of the steel wheels is very noticeable and a big plus about how the model displays.
I wish to see soon a Coupe De Ville companion while we already have the Eldorado.
@nickies Pretty much all full wheel covers back in the day were easily damaged with contact with curbs. Today just look at the number of rims that are damaged for the same reason. There's a business in our area that repairs these rims with a starting price of $150.00 and their work is superb.
