Like Randy Rusk has fond memories of camping that translated into this hobby, I likewise have great memories of growing up next to a large farm -and I worked there during my summers/after school through high school and part of college. This model scratches two itches: interests in agriculture and Porsches. I've found it difficult to find this model in the US so finally ponied up to get this one from the UK and I love it. In addition to the tractor itself, Schuco did an outstanding job with the accompanying disc harrow. While I've not had the nerve to remove it from the base, wanted to at least give it a smattering of a farming backdrop.....
I like it! Nice solid metal construction with fine details, authentic paint livery, beautiful "green thing" that may have some articulation (? ) - What's not love? But I'd have to remove it from the base, so I could play with it. 😀
I was raised on a farm and have never lost my love of vintage tractors. I have quite a few in 1/43 scale which is great but thanks mainly to Tony P. I am now aware that the selection is much greater in the larger scales, of which he has very many.
@jack-dodds Agree, the larger scales are definitely the "sweet spot" when it comes to availability of vintage-era (and I assume modern era as well) tractors. Much more challenging in 1/43. While of course most are not precisely 1/43, the Corgi farm models from the '50s and '60s are tough to beat and I have nearly all of them.
Love your Porsche diorama. I have tractors in all makes but no Porsche or Lamborghini's. I have 1/87, 1/64, 143, but mostly 1/16th and the predominance of those are John Deere.
FM and Danbury Mint's tractors were 1/16th as well. My collecting focus is on Precision and High Crop tractors.
@perrone1 Many thanks for your reply Tony. Would love to connect to pick your brain a bit more on the larger scales and where to even begin re: sourcing (other than eBay of course). Toy Farmer magazine is I assume best overall source but many dealers....
@perrone1 I had no idea you were such a farm boy! I see this Lambo a few years ago at an Italian diary farm... Do you have the model?
Ha! My 'farm' is one acre that I mow with a John Deere Garden tractor, hence the affection to John Deere. No, I have not seen a Lambo or Porsche in detailed fashion that strikes my interest - yet!
Those are all great Tony. I really don't know **** about tractors, but they look so cool - with all that fine detail. I've purposely stayed away from them because it's a slipperyslope. One leads to 4, then 6, the 15, then 27, etc.... 🙄 🙄 🙄
Years ago, walking through a Ford service area, I noticed about a dozen beautifully restored vintage tractors, all gorgeous. The dealership owner collected them and paid his staff to restore & maintain them.
I thought, "Now that's the way to collect vehicles!" 😏 😏
