Sorry Randy, I think I killed your Corgi Transporter post (not sure how or how to fix it)! 🙁

Hi Karl,

I assume you are talking about the horizontal words "Courtesy of Corgi Model Club USA" that won't go away. Not sure how you got it there but my attempts to delete it were ineffective.

At least we can still see the post. I like your cars on the transport but I would love to see the 1956 and 1957 Ecurie Ecosse Le Mans winning D-Type Jaguars instead. Not accurate time wise but in keeping with Ecurie Ecosse heritage.

This is the Ecurie Ecosse Commer TS3 Transporter with two Jaguar C-Types.

Back in 2013, British collector and vintage racer Dick Skipworth is making room in his personal toy box by disposing of not only the transporter, but seven of the cars the famed Scottish team raced to national and international glory. The lineup includes a 1952 Jaguar XK120 roadster, 1953 Jaguar C-Type, 1956 Jaguar D-Type, 1959 Tojeiro-Jaguar, 1960 Cooper Monaco, 1961 Austin-Healey "Sebring" Sprite and a Tojeiro-Buick.

The transporter went through a number of increasingly callous hands, before ending up as virtually scrap when rescued by Skipworth, whose deep pockets funded a 3,000 -hour restoration completed about 2003.

Finally, here is what the first issue by Corgi Toys of the Ecurie Ecosse Transported looked like back in 1960. They soon re-issued it in a more correct dark blue.

@david-green You said horizontal words that will not go away. When I use my iPhone to read it, I get a vertical stream of letters, which do not go away.

@ed-davis

I used wrong word. Vertical for sure. I had turned my iPad sideways to read it.

Since Karl rendered my original post inoperable, I'll use this string to finish a thought. After seeing others share their other scale model versions of the Ecurie Ecosse race transporter, I thought I'd dig through my collection to see what other examples I have (1:43 unless otherwise noted):

  • SMTS Ecurie Ecosse Transport
  • Spark Ecurie Ecosse Team Transporter (1:87)
  • Spark Ecurie Ecosse Team Transporter
  • Corgi Collectors Club Ecurie Ecosse Racing Car Transporter (1:48)
  • CMR Ecurie Ecosse Team Transporter (1:18)

I found the SMTS in an Australian collection and it's very nicely done. Heavy and well detailed.

Are there any others that anyone knows about or has in their collection?

@randyrusk

The Corgi Collectors Club Ecurie Ecosse Racing Car Transporter and the original Corgi Toys version are around 1:48th scale.
