Strictly 1/43rd show Ohio

How many of you guys would be interested in a 1/43 model show in the Toledo Ohio area ,by the Toledo express Airport.Chicago area is nice but doesn,t draw many from the East.I have a place in mind to hold one and its also by the Turnpike exit off of 80/90 East and West.I would like some input.Thankyou

Drawing from the East

For this Philadelphia guy, Toledo is almost Detroit, and Detroit is almost Chicago, distance wise. I think my driving limit would be about 5 hours to a show (Pittsburgh, VA, CT). I'd love to go to a model car show where 1:43 was well represented, and I'd especially like to meet other Forum members. If I need to fly, it may as well be located anywhere in the US (often short flights cost more than longer ones).

Joe indirectly raises a good point- show should be near a major airport with frequent & cheap fares.

This was one of the primary reasons the Chicago show was located essentially
adjacent to O'Hare airport for many years.

Additionally - the current Chicago location is equidistant from each of Midway
and O'Hare.

I believe a lot of the success/failure of a particular show has to do with the
promoter and the promotion / PR efforts concerning the same.

Re: Ohio Show

Sounds like a plan, Greg, as long as you avoid Nov-March time period. I've seen some pretty grim weather (OK, some pretty nice, too) up there then.

Not too terrible to fly to Detroit & rent a car for one hour drive south.

Very true. Was thinking the same thing. Here is an idea- how about having it in August on the same weekend as the Woodward Dream Cruise in the Detroit suburb of
Birmingham?

I attended the Dream Cruise this year for the first time, in no small part due
to the urging of both Brad Gorman and John Styles of this Forum,
and it was absolutely glorious.

Really far exceeded any expectations. Additionally, the hospitality of and the
ability to hang around with John, Brad and their friends & family members all
weekend made the trip really special. It was just really, really great. Can not
recommend it highly enough.

While the Dream Cruise runs multiple days, the primary (and final) day is on a
Saturday.

If the show is held in Toledo on a Sunday, that would allow one to come in
and hit both during the same weekend.

As the Esteemed Moderator notes in the previous posting, it is indeed only an
hour from Detroit to Toledo. I, for one, will drive in any event since Toledo is
only about 5 hours away, and I have made the trek numerous times in the
past for the previously held 1:43 show there.

I'll come. August is good for me and I like the idea of the Dream Cruise too.

Good observations

Dick and Tom have made some excellent points here. Have never been to the Dream Cruise (for that matter, haven't been to Detroit since th 70s), and scheduling a Toledo show around that event would make perfect sense.
