Late last year Sergio Goldvarg issued his 1970 Impala in Mulsanne Blue, not long after I bought the Premium X Chevelle SS454 in blue, which, yeah, I will call Mulsanne Blue.

As for the '69 Camaro, it seems to have originated in a Mexican partworks series where it was issued in red. It has also appeared as a WhiteBox LE of 1000 (Model Car World gets the WB models from PCT, to give them a diecast range alongside their Neo/American Excellence, Best of Show, and CMF ranges). The blue version is nice with, actual chrome for the window surrounds and well-applied Camaro script among the details. In 1969 there was Le Mans Blue, but this is a little too light for that but much darker than that year's Glacier Blue.

But wait, there's more. I have a Premium X '69 Camaro RS and the Yenko by GreenLight already, and Highway 61 makes a Camaro SS, both with fancy stripes and other details. So what's the story on this plain-Jane version with the doggy dish hubcaps but with a cowl induction hood? Whether PCT/WB knew it or not, they have made the very exclusive ZL1, the most powerful Camaro up to that time. A Chevy COPO project, the ZL1 was focused on the NHRA Super Stock drag class, and had an aluminum 427 putting out more than 500 ponies. The quickest bowtie car in history, with slicks and headers it could make the quarter-mile in 11.6 seconds or so. Only 69 were built, with 20 headed straight to drag strips right out of the gate. Check out the comparison with a 1:1 below:

Thanks for your good pictures and even better description, Harv.  I have little interest in most of the 70's and more recent years of cars, but I still enjoy good comments.  I like comments on the ZL1 and now I'm really curious as to whether or not these companies know what they have produced.   Good show!   David
