For 1954, Dick Teague designed 4 concept cars with Packard's unique styling cues. They were notable for their one piece fiberglass bodies with removable hard tops and sporting wrap-around windshields. The first car was called the "Gray Wolf" and notable from the others for its single gray color and lack of tail fins with current production tail lamps.
Restyled with tail fins, cathedral tail lamps and a sharp belt line suitable for a tutone scheme, they were now named "Panther". Two of the four were powered by McColloch supercharged 359 cid straight 8 that developed 275 HP. This particular model replicates the car taken to Daytona for time trials and officilally only did around 110 mph as it was poorly prepped. It later ran 131.1 unofficially and was given the moniker "Panther Daytona". Both the Gray Wolf and the Panther Daytona exist today. This Matrix model is #17 of 400 in Bruin Metallic over Black.
Yes, great looking model of a very interesting design.
