Hi guys,
I have been looking for a 57 Cad coupe de ville in white metal or diecast for sometime as my preference is, when possible, those materials.
I came across this model and it for the most part fit the bill.
This model weighs a ton and has some great detailing. The wheels and tires were atrocious.
I replaced them with wheels/tires from the Brooklin 57 El Dorado (with some enhancements) and they improved the car substantially. I also scrapped the chrome trim
out and painted taillights and backup and front parking lights.
I have included in my photos the original wheels for comparison. Thanks for looking.
Nice work. Any idea when the original model was made?

Wow, you have done some beautifully mastered improvements to this model.
Kudos to you for your craftsmanship and pics.

A fine job ! This one looks great .... and, after all, it's a Cadillac. Yes, it must weigh a ton being of white metal.
This model was made in 1998. It was promised by VF Models in the first part of 1997.
Attached is a copy of a catalog from a stockist with a photo and a price list of "Revolution 43" models which were lower priced due to no display case.
The VF catalog ran 20 pages with many, many promises, but after all was said and done, many deposits were lost and few models were produced.
More VF are in hobbyDB. When were they active?

@lloyd-mecca Thanks for the extensive information. Glad to know it’s beginnings. Do you have this model?
No, I do not have that model. I did buy several, and returned one to my dealer as it was coming apart. Sold three others quickly.
I did keep the Eldo Rancher and I wanted the '76 Ambulance. I determined that the ambulance was actually built for the Netherlands Ambulance Museum, so I sent a letter to them and I was able to buy one from them. The build quality was very good. Still have it, still looks good.
Most of his (few) releases were toy-like, sometimes the body was too short, items fell of, plenty of banana shapes and other issues. Most of the dealers had trouble with him (Volker) as it related to deposits. So even thought there are twenty pages to the catalog of offerings, not many were made. I understand VF passed away some years ago.
Here are some pic from my files of various items.
major banana
short body
toy-like front end
One item I did forget to mention, when I removed the baseplate on the '59 Hearse and Ambulance, the baseplates had weights glued to them, front and back to give it that hefty feel.
@lloyd-mecca Hey Lloyd,
this is the only model I have. I thought the front end was a little too tall and cartoonish, so I modified it by a quarter of an inch and moved the bumper/ grill up and I think that made a big difference. I also looked at the original box and this car came in a light green and a blue version. Limited to 250 each including the black one. I really like this white metal 57 in my collection.
I agree, if you are able to modify a models to suit you/make it more realistic I say go for it.
Its not my favorite thing to do, but I do so occasionally.
