Volvo Estate 122
I am detailing the RobEddie Volvo Estate. Can anyone tell me if the gas cap should be foiled or left red. Car really pops out with foiling. Thanks, Paul
Hello Paul...the picture I have shows it is left in color
Maybe you can go to http://www.flickr.com/photos/mblomqvist/3859436216/
and pull up the picture.
Eric
Don't know about the gas cap, but I sure would like to see a picture of your finished work.

Hello Eric, thank you for the picture it also helps with the parking lights which seem to be amber and white. Will try to finish this weekend and also try to post a pic. Regards, Paul

Hello David, nice to hear from you. I hope to finish this weekend. I will try to post a picture with the instructions the good Reverend sent me several weeks ago. Just trying to figure how to black wash the grill. Not much depth to the casting of the fine grill. Regards, Paul

Hi Karl, thanks for the pictures. Now I'm confused. I guess I will foil it to break up the bright red color. Thanks again. Paul
Answer from a Volvo parts counter person....
...the stock non-locking fuel cap was body-color. The accessory locking cap
was chrome plated.
John
So there we have it. Thank you John
The RobEddie is a 1969 - here is the 1963... [pics]
Not enough details to foil on this contemporary diecast, brought out in 1964 by Tekno Denmark. Note the gas cap is body colored! 😡 This is #830 in a series of Volvos they produced in the 1950-60s. Tekno reportedly took a year to develop the molds because of the thin pillars and to get the roof strong enough (note the opening split rear gates). Discontinued in 1968.

A nice replica for its day. A little foil on the side spear and vent windows might help. Thank you for the picture. Regards, Paul
No Karl, leave it alone! Do not give in to such sacriledge!
That's a nice piece Karl - one I missed out on back in the day.
Paul..in all seriosity nothing could make you a bad guy!
