As Jack Dodds cites in his post, these Volkswagen Variants are hard to find. Notchbacks and Fastbacks are still available by Maxichamps. Does anyone know how Minichamps became Maxichamps?

Here are my Variants I think in all the colors offered by Minichamps.

A nice looking bunch David.  I hope to find a couple more myself.

My suspicion is that Minichamps had all these great molds sitting around and there was demand 20-30 years on for many of these. But they might have been LEs by Minichamps back in the day. Solution? New brand name. Now the reissues have a new name and are therefore Paul's Model Art is not technically making more of something after the maximum issue size had been reached. The Maxichamps reissues have a '940' prefix on the 9-digit catalog number, so I'm guessing the remaining six digits are the same as the old '400' or '430' numbers. Kind of like the Corgi Model Club reissues of classic Corgi diecasts.
