Well, it's been a few weeks since the Ray P / Concourse d'Elegance auction has closed and I just got around to going through everything. In the process, I learned a valuable lesson... what you see is what you get. Three of the models I purchased are missing mirrors, antennae, and/or hood ornaments. Granted, they are not shown in the auction photos, but I ASSUMED that for such a curated collection, they would be included. But you know what they say about assuming anything. Anyway, I'm still happy to have won some key items that fill gaps in my collections and it was only some of the lesser models that are missing parts. But they're also parts that are going to be very tough to find.

I've reached out to a couple of sources, but if anyone knows where I can find the following, I'd appreciate it:

  • Conquest 1957 Buick Century Caballero wagon - hood ornament and driver's side mirror
  • Kenna Models Hereford Woody - fender mirrors and antenna
  • Minimarque 1957 Mercury Turnpike Cruiser - hood ornament

Perhaps Buz could help you out with regard to the hood ornament and drivers side mirror or perhaps SMTS although it has been a long time since that model was made. SMTS also did the 57 Buick in a hardtop and convertible with those parts. There was a cheaper version of the Turnpike Cruiser made ( can't recall who made it) and possibly you could find one for the hood ornament. Good luck.

Fender and door mirrors are very easy to make.  I do it all the time and often upgrade white metal ones to more robust ones I make.  Randy, if interested, contact me.

@bob-jackman Thanks! This is great advice and gives me a good sense of direction. As a "hail Mary" I also reached out to Ralston and they said they have a box of small parts that were left over from the auction. So maybe I'll get lucky!

@john-quilter Wow! I may take you up on that offer if Ralston is unable to locate the originals in their mystery box of leftover parts. I really appreciate it!

Ralston sent me a convertible boot that doesn't belong with anything I purchased. Yes, looking at the photos closely is always a good idea. I wanted that yellow/green Duesey but on close view I saw that a Packard radiator ornie was installed.

As for Kenna parts, I think Pete is still around. He used to list under "larry_leffe" on ebay but I don't see anything there now. You might check with Jeff Lane or our good friend Charlie.
