Who all here hand builds as well as collects?
I'm enjoying the process of building and painting (now airbrushing) models which I haven't done since I discovered girls in the 8th grade.
So other than the manufacturers, does any one here build resin and white metal 1:43 cars?

I've dabbled in white metal and die cast a bit. Have a number of resin that I haven't messed with yet. Maybe after the Holidays I will make an attempt.

I've made about 50 models now. Most of them are from early times from the 1930s and back to about 1910. I've had the pleasure of learning from some real masters that do one-off items. How about you?

I've been building in 1/43 since I found out the Brits made kits.
And boy were the old John Day models crude. But all we could find if we wanted a 1/43 model of a racing Porsche, for example. Since then Record and Starter made resin ones and very nice models too. Then later, the Minichamps onslaught changed everything. so, why even build anything? But they kind of stayed into racing and European makes. After our foray into the Strictly 43rd Expos it is still amazing how few Americans (USA that is) build in this scale. But those who do are some great builders and work on customers orders a lot. Now it's great to see Goldvarg in the USA but his quality is as good as anyone who builds and for the price, a bargain. Sorry to get so wordy. You've got me goin'.

I enjoy building 1:43 kits now and then. (pics) My favorites are usually older issues by
Mikansue, Grand Prix, Precision Miniatures, Illustra, and even a few plastic Heller models. My skills aren't very high, but I enjoy the process.

I just gave Spark's Oldsmobile Toronado an appropriately detailed interior, and yesterday received thr BBR Ferrari 612 Scaglietti kit I was waiting to find!.. Of course it will just sit around, waiting for warm weather again.

PIC - I've done a few, various scales & materials, the 1st was a Starter kit of the '32 Alfa
LeMans winner when I retired and got back to building models again after a working life hiatus. Am now building a series of WWI plastic models because I've run out of display space but have plenty of "Air" space.
