I'm a member of a small local model club here but I'm the only one into 43rd scale, the rest are 1:24th fellows. They show interest and amazement at my items as we all bring examples to display at club meetings but they're not likely to take up the hobby especially given the price of some of the 43rd items I show. There is another 1:1 Jaguar owner (2002 Jaguar XK8 coupe, 1976 XJ6 coupe, 1966 S Type) nearby who collects 43rd and builds racing scene dioramas but he's not in the club.

Hi Guys
Not much interest in 1/43 models in my house, most of my friends (4 or 5) are selling their models on ebay. (me included) Most of these guys have collections of models they have built from kits or scratch built. I have a bad habit of drop names of some of the stuff I like to do. (1/43 model cars, injection molding, screen printing, resin casting, etc) Absolutely no one is interested. I do have a happy wife when she see small boxes of models being given to the mailman or a check in the mail from junk I have made in the garage. Did go up to Brookhurst Hobbies (never really a model car place) a couple days ago and found about half the store was gaming supplies, transformer type figures, so maybe that is what most people are doing for a hobby. Did have a little sticker shock when buying some Tamiya primer at $11 a spray can.

These responses show the importance of Forums like this one in order to continue to enjoy our hobby. I just moved so I have lost my one hobby buddy. I value my long term club memberships with BCC and WMTC in the UK and now the NABCC...and of course this Forum.
The forum is my link to the hobby of model car collecting. In the state where I live, I don't know anyone else who collects 1/43 scale models. This past Saturday I was attending a cars and coffee for 1/1 scale cars when a friend walks up and introduces me to a guy who collects Hot Wheels. The guy tells me he has 16,000 hot wheels and asked me how many I have...when I tell him about twelve I thought he was going to faint. The guy then says to me, what do you collect if it's not Hot Wheels and I tell him 1/64 (not Hot Wheels), 1/43,1/24, 1/18 and a few 1/16 and 1/12. I thought the guy was going to flip out when I told him the average price of my 1/43 scale models...I guess that was quite a shock to someone who buys his at Wal-Mart for 89 cents.
Well, I guess I have a different situation as my wife loves the Brooklins and is very much a part of our combined interest in this hobby. We discuss each new addition.
I consider myself very fortunate.
Hi collectors,
I been a member over 10years. Collecting 1/24 snd 1/43. Now only 1/43. In Karl’s reply, I noticed he is from Indianapolis. I leave in Indy as well, Noblesville. Small world. Is there a way all members could be listed by state location to see if there is a possibility to connect and form a club/meeting relationship. Also, my family and friends think the little cars are cool and marvel at the detail. I also, rework and detail some my self. I hope this idea is of interest to you.
Thanks, Chuck
My wife marvels at each new piece that 'followed me home' and is amazed at the details. She knows how much effort goes into building something this tiny from the occasional scratch building I do, so she understands the pricing.
She just retired as a librarian is absorbed by American history. Her hobby for decades has been the history of American popular culture through music, TV, print etc., and cars and how they were styled and evolved were part of the picture.
She has her own collections of history such 'Preview' issues of TV guide going back into the 40s, and their editorials give snapshots of current thought. We collectors all have our Holy Grails and hers is Television Guide issue #1. She has #2.
Mark, do you or perhaps anyone else know what happened to "Neo"? Why they appear to have abandoned production?
Thanks.
@bob-jackman "in the state where I live" but I have no idea where that is. Most of the posters do not show their location on the globe which I find a bit strange. Are they too private to disclose where they live or simply never got around to adding that info to their profile. Perhaps I am geography centric but I find it quite interesting to know where folks hail from. Why not update your info, you might find there is someone in your area who is also a collector/poster.

@stanton-lyman I have no contacts at any manufactures, but some members may know a little. NEO could be inconsistent with accuracy esp of color but so many of their models so bang-on they were like shrunken 1:1s. There were subjects that collectors complained about incorrect color on an otherwise fine model and NEO released a different, correct color! I looked forward to their new releases. Perhaps costs got out of control, or the tensions in HongKong caused too much disruption.
When the light is right and hand is steady I'll post some of my NEO favorites.
@john-quilter We all have models to sell or turn over hopefully to good homes. I'm sure we'll all use the Auction function when it's up and running.
I'd rather make less profit on The Zone and deal with gentlemen than take my chances on the Bray. Either way we gain space.
@john-quilter Hi, If John K is watching, is there away that the site can generate a address (city and state) so us members can reach out to fellow collectors to see if there is an interest to connect with each other. I know that Karl is a fellow Indy person. So let’s reach out to others on close proximity. IMHO

Well I keep hoping they are going to relaunch the 1952 Chevrolet woody in maroon and the 1949 Chrysler sedan in blue. When NEOs are good they are really good, but I have had some that were banana shaped. I hope they have determined the reason and corrected the processes. I'm not terribly critical about color as long as it is reasonably period correct.

Maybe John Kuvacas could run through the steps to update your profile to show location. Mine even lists some personal background.

John Q., When John K. was keeping a map of where we all lived, I was one of the first to submit my address as being in Brandon, Mississippi.
