These are some phone-camera snaps of this 1958-1960 Thunderbird I got when I was small and I still happily have it. It is in a neat two-tone color scheme and it undoubtedly also lived on my Lionel H.O. or American Flyer train set layout.

I had the same Ford Thunderbird, and I also used it on my Lionel HO train layout.

Mike, this is the first time I've seen one of your toys that had any sign of having been played with. Great model.

Even as a kid I wondered, when I got this MBox, why they painted it such odd colors and went with the paint separation line they used.  I have several of these in my current collection.  In recent years M or MB examples sell for a fairly healthy price.

#75 in good shape for its age. I have this one also.I don’t mind the colour despite not being authentic for the real Thunderbird.

@david-green What's the exact scale on this one Dave..... I seem to recall it's only slightly larger than 1/87.     True?  🤔 🤔 🤔

@chris

Chris, Matchbox originally called it 1/64 back in 1959 but it is actually about 1/80 scale. It is 2 5/8 inches long, slightly larger than 1/87 as you stated.
