This is a special-fx photograph of downtown Riverside, IL taken in about 1955. The background building and automobiles is a real period image taken back then (not by me, as I was 2 years old at that time !), but the three cars in front are 1/64 scale diecasts I arranged to look more like they were in the image. A sepia tone and deckle edge give it more of a vintage look.
Very nice picture. The car models fit the image well.

Thanks ! Since the family home was only a couple of blocks away from here in Riverside, I could have been taken by this scene in real life in a stroller as a little kid, lol !
Mike, great photo. The cars look like they belong there.
Fantastic! It looks perfectly real!
Mike, I cannot tell you how much I love this photo. Brilliant!
Thank you, Paul !
Interesting photos. Thanks.

Lol, by the way, I still remember that Nash in the third picture, as my older sister and me used to call it the "upside down bathtub car".
@michaeldetorrice Do many of these buildings in Riverside still exist?

Yes, Ed, essentially all of them still do exist. Since Riverside has been designated a National Landmark for it's overall design and street plan by Frederick Law Olmsted, in many ways it remains the same as it was from it's 1871 incorporation.
I think 3 Frank Lloyd Wright houses are here and over the years I believe there have been about 6 or 7 service/gas stations and automobile repair/sales shops in the village. Long before that it was a American Indian encampment area and a fording point on the DesPlaines River for both Indians and settlers.
Great stuff Mike. I love you and Ed's pictures of the Chicago area with the models.
