Thrust SSC - World's Fastest Car
The Thrust SSC holds the world record for the fastest land vehicle, reaching a mind-blowing 763 mph (1,227.985 km/h) — that's Mach 1.02

Designed with two Rolls-Royce Spey turbofan engines, this jet-powered car was driven by Andy Green, a British Air Force pilot, who became the first person to break the sound barrier on land!

The Thrust SSC's sleek, aerodynamic design and unmatched power still make it the fastest land vehicle to date. A true testament to engineering innovation and pushing the limits of speed!

For more details, see Marty Johnson's post addition on the previous THRUST 2, Richard Noble, 1983 posting.

Here are my Thrust SSC models by Lledo, somewhat larger than their earlier 1/100 scale World Speed Record Holders.

First, the 1996 Record attempt in on the Jafr desert in Jordan, which was a failure due to weather conditions at the time. This is a very hard to find version by Lledo.

Next is the 1997 retry which resulted in a a new Land Speed Record of 714.144 mph average over two runs on September 25, 1997 at Black Rock Desert, Nevada. Additional runs extended that speed to 763 mph.

Note the re-colour of the vehicle.

Finally, here is the boxed set of all five LLedo models in 1/100 scale which I was lucky to find.

You own some pretty unique land-speed replicas.   Very cool David!

@chris I agree Chris. Love the models and the writeup. The engineering needed to keep the car from flying had to be interesting.
