In 1957, Matchbox/Lesney introduced the Jaguar D-Type that won Le Mans in 1955,56 and 57.
I was lucky enough to get all variations other than errors (like having the wrong number instead of 41).
Here is the rarest tenth variation. Red plastic wheels was the final variation discontinued in 1965 after a very short run.
Here also is the first issue with its unique box and metal wheels.
Here are a few of the more common variations. The first introduced in 1957 was slightly smaller. The larger version came out in 1960.
Note the wire wheels on the ninth variation.
.....pretty neat little Jag that I don't remember.
Wow David, I didn't realize there were that many variations; I learned something today! I had this one as a kid and have always loved it. I have 5 variations in my collection as I recall; they are all boxed and packed away at this time sadly.
I think I had the one with wire wheels. It was one of the 1-75s in my carrying case that was stolen out of my parents' car in Jamaica, NY. Matchbox had already replaced it with the GT-40, so there was no way to get another one at the time.
