Where were you in '62?

Let's see; to your question. I was in high school. I took my driver's test in Mom's 1960 Cadillac CDV so I had my 1957 Ford Fairlane at that time.

I had taken (tried to take ) pics of the interior.   Despite my best efforts. lighting prowess, and set-up techniques.....  it was a disaster.    😩 😩 😳    That's why none were posted.    I was tempted to take the model apart just to get at that interior....   but no, not yet.  😉 😉

It was pretty - white with red leather. I only got to drive it a few times but I was afraid of hurting her 'baby'. You may not have been alive but I still thought about you fondly! 

My 'first ride' though was home from the hospital birthing center in a 1947 Ford.

Easily my best 1/64 replica to date.    Actually, my pics do not do it justice - honest.    IMO, the best feature are those wheels; the worst are the headlights.  Everything else is great - outstanding.    👍 👍 👍 

Chris, where did you find this “magnificent” model ?  I’ve so many questions. Like how is the ride height ? The front fender comes down just over the w/w. That looks about right to me but how bout you ? Are the hubcaps treated to body color ? Sorry to bother you but please rate this model on scale with 10 being best…thanks !!

As i’ve stated i previous posts, i’m mot a Cadillac fan but I do love the styling of the ‘61 & ‘62. I also like the ‘67-68 Eldorados. I guess i’m picky that way cuz i’m more of a Continental / Lincoln fan.

1) It's been out for a while now, perhaps even a year.   Mine came from eBay, c.$32

2) The ride height is perfect... especially when compared to MINI GT's nicely done '54 Lincoln, which sits a bit high (SEE PIC ABOVE ). 

3) Yes, front fenders come down over the wheels as they should.  The scale wheel tracks appear to be spot on.

4) Yes, Cadillac offered color-keyed wheelcovers from 1960-'62.    1961 seems to be year when they were most popular. 

5) I'd rate this model a solid 8.5     The headlights, thick steering wheel, and a few other "minors"  deem it, IMO, not worthy of a "10."

6) You say you like 1967 Cadillac Eldorados.....    Well, guess what?     MK Miniatures has JUST released a 1/64 1967 Eldorado - so NEW in fact - THIS is the best pic I can find.  MSRP c.$46

in '62 I was no longer a fluid.  

First of all, I was in the Navy in 1962. When I came home on leave my dad picked me up from the airport in his brand new 1962 Cadillac Coupe De Ville. Ever since that day the 62 Cadillac has been my favorite post war Caddy. Oh, and, I buy every model of a 62 that comes out including this beauty.

@bob-jackman ...nice story - AND so many Cadillacs!    That's the only car my Dad ever drove - I was brought home from the hospital in a '58 SDV, Tony took his 1962 driver's test using his Mom's 1960 CDV, you were picked up on leave in 1962 in a '62 CDV.    Anyone else?    😉 😀 😆
