American Graffiti - a movie that changed my life. To say it influenced me tremendously would be an understatement.
I'll never forget seeing this "high-end" Hot Wheels set at Toys R Us in the late 1990's; the overall "fidelity" was impressive - I had never seen Hot Wheels cars like this before. At $19.99 (a stagging sum ) I passed. However, I drove back the next day, and, well, this set was the inception of my diecast cast collection - it quite literally started it all.
Soon after, Revell released a few cars too - about as nice. 😎 😎
Let's see; in '62 I had just received my learners permit & driver's license, was a sophomore in high school and completely obliterated by the car culture. By the time American Graffiti came out (1973 I believe) I was immersed in hot rods and anything with wheels and a motor. I SO identified with the cars and characters of that show!
@perrone1 To be honest, I'm still warming up to it. The '61 and '62 Fury was even easier to get accustomed to.
In 1962 I was working in the City (Manhattan) for First National City Bank, on Park Avenue, as a tab operator. I ran IBM tabulating equipment which included wiring boards...
