In thinking about the "Dollars & Cents" listing on this "Rear Vies Mirror", though they look unbelievable, with time and inflation they are comparable to our wages and prices today.  I wonder where it all ends.

I wonder also where the troubled times end.

Sadly, I think the answer is never.  In all my 70 years on the planet, I've never seen our country so divided and with so much hatred attached to it.  The pandemic, social unrest and political unrest, I'm afraid the Hell Basket my grandma said the world was going to, is here!  Wrongs are now argued to be right, and right is made to be wrong.  There is no common sense, no logic, no rational thinking, no compassion, no forgiving, and way too much judging and blaming others..  People boast of their freedoms while ignoring the freedoms of others in doing so.  And accepting responsibility for ones actions or lack thereof, is no longer a standard they are held to.  Everyone wants to do only what they want to, regardless of how it affects anyone else.  I think I've pretty much summed it up.  I'll step off the soap box.

I agree with you George that in general things are very dysfunctional at this time in history.  Now we have Russia seemingly doing what they insisted they would not do to the Ukraine and blaming them.....sound familiar in our history?  Scary developments.  I won't go on about this on this site of course other than to say that IMHO it is critically important to remember that in our daily lives the vast majority of people we deal with are decent, caring and respectful.  It has always been the nasty 5% (as I call them) who can always be counted on to display the qualities you mention George.  It seems to me that if you treat people with kindness, patience and respect you, for the most part, give them an opening to respond in kind.  I do realize that we all are pretty much aware of this and have learned the value of this over time but it doesn't hurt to mention it occasionally.
