1936 Cord 810

I took a fancy to this Cord at the 2017 Cobble Beach Concours.

I once took a fancy to something similar. (pic)

The was made of a latex rubber, probably about 1950. It is some 7 inches long, and this is a more recent paint job.

The Cord was so smooth that it slipped easily from the dies used by rubber manufacturers on the late 1930's and later. I was reminded of it as soon as I saw the great color in your picture. Thanks!

I met Gordon Burhrig in 1979 at a Motor City Packard car show in Maumee Ohio.

Gordon Miller Buehrig

Thanks Brian. For those not familiar with him, Gordon Miller Buehrig was an automobile designer. Born in Mason City, Illinois, he had early design experience with Packard, General Motors and Stutz. also designed the distinctive Cord 810/812 shown here, the latter recognized for its originality by the Museum of Modern Art in 1951. I'd have loved to have met him.
