The Caddy for sure was displaying styling of things to come in the mid and later 50's. And to think that you could have had it for probably a little more than $1,900 back then. Of course the average annual income was only $3,600 so that car would have been expensive for the times.

@georgeschire Ah....that would explain why my father bought a new Austin Somerset that year then. Mercifully he totaled it in a snow storm in '55 and replaced it with a new '55 Chevy! I recall the Chevy as a wee lad but not the Austin.

I always get a kick out of people who look at low prices of most everything 40, 50, and 60 years ago, and immediately think today's prices are out of line. But what they always overlook is that average incomes back in those decades were not like they are today, and reality is, today's prices are in line with today's incomes.
