Saw this on Facebook and thought it was interesting, apparently new cars were simply floated down the river on barges to nearby dealerships. 🤔 🤨 

"Chevrolet's St. Louis plant supplied dealers in areas adjacent to the Mississippi River from Northern Missouri down to Louisiana and westward along the Gulf Coast. Houston dealers got their cars from St. Louis, Dallas dealers got theirs from Kansas City."
