Well done, Mike. Few, probably none of us have direct memories of that day, but it's important in understanding our present United States. Your reminder is striking.
The real shame Mike is that history is no longer taught in our schools perpetuating the idea in young people's minds that nothing happened of importance before they were born.
As a DoD contractor supporting the USN, I’ve been to Pearl Harbor three times. Each time, I’ve visited the USS Arizona Memorial to pay my respects - it’s the 2nd-most moving experience I’ve ever had. The single-most moving experience I’ve ever had, as a resident in the D.C. metro area, is to visit the Tomb of the Unknown (probably more than 1/2 dozen times)…each place brings me to tears.

Your comment is bang on the mark Bob J. The kids are being done a great disservice by not being sufficiently educated about what their forefathers sacrificed and for what reason. How can a young person appreciate, respect and honor such history if the education system fails to teach them? Like it has been said many times; failure to do so ensures that it will all be repeated.
