OMG! How to ruin an otherwise okay looking car! The GOLD WHEEL COVERS do absolutely nothing to make this '57 DeSoto appealing!

WHAT THE HECK GEORGE! I MEAN REALLY - WHAT THE HECK! I CAN'T BELIVE THIS! MAN-0-MAN! THIS IS SHOCKING, BUT..............
... I agree with you 100%
I've NEVER liked these 100% factory gold wheelcovers; they always looked tacky to me. I don't like 1950's Cadillacs that also wore factory "bold-gold" options (rims & badging ).
If they had to have colored wheelcovers it would have been more suitable if they had matched the gold coloring of the lower rear fender, without the sheen. But, chrome would have been nicer.
I like the beautiful 1957 DeSotos, so the wheel covers don't bother me at all. I am sure Groucho and Mr. Fenneman would agree with me ! As they said, "Drive a DeSoto ... Then Decide !"
I am sure this gorgeous rocketship would get a thumbs up from me .... and anyway, wheel covers might be the easiest thing on an automobile to swap.
I agree. The good thing is , they can be easily replaced.
I loved the '55-56 DeSoto design very much so for me the new forward look was disappointing....not a favorite of mine. Regarding the gold hubcaps, they were offered on the '56 as well as the silver standard caps and you may recall the grille could come in gold on some models as well. IMHO even the beautiful '56 Black/gold car didn't suit the lighter gold colored caps, (but I thought the gold grille looked okay). They looked kind of cheap in comparison to the regular chrome caps and wires offered; partly because the gold color on them was lighter and brighter than the gold on the car body.
Some beautiful DeSoto pictures. I like the gold wheel covers-I know they weren't incredibly popular but it's a real treat to see them on the occasional Adventurer at car shows.

Yeah, I don't mind them either. They're just part of that crazy 50's styling.😁Some beautiful DeSoto pictures. I like the gold wheel covers-I know they weren't incredibly popular but it's a real treat to see them on the occasional Adventurer at car shows.
