You may have seen on the news that Shackleton's ship Endurance has been found in Antarctica 107 years after she sank.

Endurance (original)
Endurance (stern)

And of course I don't have to tell you what is going on in Ukraine.

The cartoonist in yesterday's London Evening Standard neatly combined the two topics.

Endurance E. Standard

p.s. I am posting this for artistic reasons, NOT political comment (just in case anyone is sensitive about such things)

A fitting tribute indeed!  Thanks very much Graeme.

It was fascinating to see how incredibly well preserved this ship was because of the extremely cold water.

And, apparently, the absence of wood-eating micro-organisms in Antarctic waters.

A wonderful discovery. The ship is too deep to currently recover and certainly won't be bothered by recreational divers. Regarding the last image, that artist was very timely with his cartoon.
