I get determined like that when I have to go out to retrieve the newspaper when the delivery boy's throw misses the front porch. Life as a retired person can be a living hell at times.

I hear ya. I no longer get the paper but our mailbox is W A Y up there at the street at the end of a long and steep hilly driveway. I have USPS 'Informed Delivery' which emails each day with a photo of what is in today's mail delivery. If it is just junk, I'm in no itching hurry to go all the way up there and all the way back. Our son, Allen is the same way. Lives in hilly Sweetwater and has a steep driveway at the end of his acreage. He fires up his diesel John Deere to fetch the mail and take down the trash each week. and he's only 58!!
We no longer have a paper version of the paper delivered but I do get it electronically. I love the Pickles as almost everyday it relates to us.
I worked for 2 newspapers here in Spartanburg and Greenville for 15 years. Always read the paper and still had it delivered to my house even while working there. I have now moved on to Sports radio and I have cancelled the paper, as what was in it was day or two old news and with it only being 10 pages, what was the point. It is a shame that newspapers did not figure out that giving low subscription rates to keep circulation numbers up they might still be around. Let advertising bring in the dollars as the higher the circulation the more national advertisers would put in their inserts. I miss those days, but we must forge ahead.
@perrone1 Smart move Tony! Nice to see that multigenerational John Deere loyalty too.
Thanks Pal! I have the Deere signs on the basement garage door, several hats and even JD gloves and shirt! Hey, go big or go home!
