I was a bit “iffy” also, but who better to tell his story? It was truly heartwarming!

The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry (2023)

I saw this last night.....the production values seemed to me to be that of a low-budget Indy.....but the story line was compelling.....and the film was moving and unforgettable

"Deborah Ross for The Spectator described it as an “incredibly beautiful film to look at” and that “Broadbent is a wonder, so real and sincere it doesn’t feel like acting…and Wilton equals him”. Ross concluded that “this may even be one of those rare instances where the film is better than the book.” Kevin Maher in The Times described it as “immediately one of the great movies about ageing and regret” with director Macdonald a “secret weapon” whose “return to cinema is something to be celebrated”. Peter Bradshaw in The Guardian was more critical of the suspension of reality required with the plot, saying that whilst it was “impeccably acted, sincerely intended and often beautifully shot” there was something “unsatisfying” in the “solemn, self-conscious fantasy”."

So interesting to see you guys chatting about British T.V. : All Creatures Great And Small is of course excellent - a classic!. Of course the Brits have always liked American T.V.. Favourites of mine were Madmen and The Sopranos.  I've just bought DVDs of a single series comedy from 1981; Private Schultz about a hapless petit criminal, roped-into the SS scheme to forge £5 notes in order to collapse the British economy during WWII. I remember it being hysterical and it's now achieved something of a cult status.

This one's pretty good, the wife doesn't watch anything in the "Bang, Bang, shoot em up" category. Needless to say our viewing habits are polar opposite. Jack Ryan (Paramont+) was good too, the final season was a little lacking. Have you tried "Joe Pickett" on Paramont+, it's pretty good also.

Yes - agree with Jack Ryan; I started Joe Picket, but haven’t gotte too far yet…I think I’ll like, my wife, not so much.

For those who’ve watched “Dopesick” - try “Painkiller” (Netflix)…same intense story, but from a different perspective.
