In Harv's thread yesterday, celebrating Chrysler Corps.' late fifties offerings and the arrival of Harv's new Saratoga; mention of French Dinkys came up, along with my observation that French films of the fifties and sixties testify to the popularity of American cars in France at the time. I've since remembered a few (dreadful) snaps I took of a modern-day film set, which again speaks of Americans in Paris at that time. The set is outside a 'cheep' hotel and bar where Marcel Cerdan and Edith Piaf conducted their relationship, but I do not know if this was the theme of the film being shot. We do not often see such cars in less than pristine state and so haphazardly parked, so it is quite entertaining.
Interesting Charles. The Ford has aftermarket reflectors on it along with a license plate identifying the year and make.
@bob-jackman Unfortunately I could not get closer and not being au fait with all U.S. automobilia I could not detect the makes of the second nor third cars - if anybody could help, I'd love to know.
There is a very elegant circus called Place St Georges where I was walking along one day (probably thinking of invoices or the like) and suddenly realised I was passing a 1920s Bugatti. I stopped in disbelief and realised there was a Delage and Voisin ! ! I had simply walked through a film set - along with others - and was surrounded by so many luxury French cars it was really like a dream. A nightmare, too as I hadn't my camera on me and do not use a mobile, (as discussed in rotary telephone threads).
